Anthony Week#12: 2025 Iron Man

Beyond being the richest man on Earth, Elon Musk is also climbing the rankings of the most influential man. His involvement in the Trump administration has positioned him as a dominant figure in the most powerful country in the world, despite not even being an elected official. Whether he’s delivering speeches to government officials, securing countless government contracts, or swaying public opinion with a single tweet, Musk’s reach now extends far beyond Silicon Valley. His role now isn’t that of just business; it’s of power, control, and the ability to steer the direction of the global landscape.

Musk’s ever-growing influence may scare many, and for good reason. His dominance over industries, combined with his unfiltered personality, makes him a polarizing figure in the eyes of many. However, there is a silver lining to his rise in power. He has used his dominance more often than not for the betterment of society, for instance, clean energy and space exploration. If he chose to do so, he could easily apply his power in a more malevolent fashion. For now, he is continent on technological advancement, rather than a sister plan of world domination; the horror remains contained behind the walls of an expanding technological fortress.

The fact is, Musk could easily be the Lex Luthor of the real world. With his intellect, money, and strategic vision, he is capable of reshaping s
ociety in his own image. He could manipulate the market, destroy innovation, and develop an AI so malicious that it would make “I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream” look like a childrens’ bedtime story. Yet, Musk chooses to be the Tony Stark of our world. He’s not amassing Tesla robots for his personal army, but is instead revolutionizing the electric vehicle industry, exploring the uncharted territories of space, and continuing in the advancement of artificial intelligence. Sure, he’s controversial, and yes, his methods may be questionable, but at the end of the day, Musk is the one pushing the limits and challenging the status quo.

One thing is undeniable, he’s not just witnessing history, he’s actively writing it.

  1. Hey Anthony! I thought that the title of your blog was really interesting and it compelled me to learn more about your point of view. I both agree and disagree with the points made in your blog, however I still think that it is very well-written with a solid line of reasoning to back up your claims. I agree that Elon Musk is definitely a pretty polarizing figure, especially given today’s political climate. However, I disagree that he is using his power for good. The work that he is doing with SpaceX is definitely valuable, but the issue with any billionaire is that the amount of money they possess is an unethical amount to retain in today’s society and economy.

I agree with your point that Musk could be doing a lot worse with his money. However, I also believe that he could be doing a lot better, whether that be through giving back to the community or using his platform to speak out against certain issues. Ultimately, I understand your point of view, and his work with electric cars and space is arguably revolutionary.

Overall, I enjoyed your blog and I can’t wait to see what you write next!

  2. Hi Anthony! Your blog was refreshingly neutral and objective. Like you said, Musk is an incredibly polarizing figure, to the point that anything about him either worships him or attempts to completely destroy his reputation. However, I like how your blog acknowledges the negative aspects of Musk's increased power but also points out that it isn't as destructive as those in the media assume. In my opinion, however, Musk could definitely cause great change, more than he already is, with his money. While it is good for all of us that he hasn't become a super villain, not being evil, in my view, is not something that should be applauded. Regardless - to my knowledge - the advances he caused in technology, such as Starlink internet that provides services for many impoverished countries, are impressive and he has had an overall positive impact on society.
