Raymond Holmes-King Week 14: Japan
Japan is a place I have been only twice in my life time, but the time I have been there will always be in my memory forever. One thing about me if you didn’t already know, I love Japan, I love the culture, the people, the atmosphere, and the food. I could go off and right a full essay on Japan and enjoy doing the essay, that’s how much I love Japan. The first time I when to Japan was during the summer after sophomore year. I went with my grandma to Japan for 15 days. Once I landed in Japan, I realized how polite people were and how clean Japan was. I was shocked. I also had to be in charge of directions, which I wasn’t expecting, and I learned that Japan has a very easy public transportation system. I loved the trip with my grandma so much that I decided to go to Japan again, this past summer. I when on a study abroad trip to Japan with other kids from around the world for four weeks. During that trip, I learned that I wanted to live in Japan because of how nice it was and clean. It was also pretty easy to navigate and even communicate with other people even if they didn’t speak English. I was probably the happiest I ever been in my whole life during that trip. Because of that, I started to plan on making my future plans surround Japan, and it is all because of the memory of being in Japan was so good, I want to live there now. Thank you for listening to my little talk about my memory of
Hey, Raymond! I enjoyed reading your blog this week on your trips to Japan and why they’re so meaningful to you. I’ve never been to Japan, so it was definitely interesting to hear your perspective on what makes Japan such a memorable destination. Personally, one thing about Japan that I adore is matcha. True Japanese matcha is super delicious and I love making matcha lattes at home while creating fun flavor combinations such as brown sugar matcha and strawberry maple matcha.
ReplyDeleteOne thing that I really appreciate about your blog is how detailed you are when describing the events of your trip. I have a couple questions for you in regard to your time in Japan. First, did you eat any food that you can’t forget to this day? And second, did you pick up any Japanese while visiting (basic words like hello or thank you)? It’s lovely to see someone so passionate about an iconic destination.
Overall, I enjoyed hearing your perspective on Japan as a travel destination and perhaps you’ve inspired me to take a trip there myself!
Hi Raymond! Reading about your experience in Japan and your love for it really reminded me of my home country of Taiwan. While I've only visited Japan once, I felt that the two countries share many in common. Both have an extremely efficient public transportations and since I visited the more rural side of Japan, I did not run into the hustle and bustle that is often portrayed on shows and television. I hope that I'm also able to visit Japan again one day to explore the regions that I haven't had the opportunity to visit.
ReplyDeleteWhat program did you attend for your study abroad trip? I would love to hear more!
