Raymond Holmes-King Week 9: Power of the farmers.
Farmers are the backbone of America, and a lot of people recognize them and realize the potential power that they hold. If farmers stopped growing food for the people, then America would fall because it won’t have any food.
I am honestly surprised that a lot of people do not realize that they depend on farmers, and because of that, farmers all over the world could destroy every single country.
You might think, “If farmers could destroy every nation, why don’t they?” The answer is very simple, they want money and they don’t want their country to be destroyed. National pride and money are pretty much the only things that are keeping the farmers from destroying the world.
The government has realized that they relied on farmers, when some farmers went on strike in the past, the government pretty much just ignored them, but when a lot of farmers went on strike, the government listened to their demands and gave it to them because without the farmers, the government knew it would fall.
On a bit of a better note, farmers have never destroyed a nation, so that means the farmers never have thought to do it, or they realize that great power comes with great responsibilities. Another thing is that we need farmers, and farmers need us. We as the people give the farmers the power, and in return, the farmers get money.
One thing we can do if farmers ever try to take down a nation, we can replace them with robots. They probably won't be as good as regular farmers. They would get the job done, but not as great as humans can do it. People would also probably not be happy about having farmers being replaced by robots.
Hello Raymond! It's nice to see you again in this new cohort as well in this semester, and it's fun being able to read your thoughts again which always give a unique perspective. While it did seem to go on a bit of a tangent near the end, I think you raised some interesting points on the true power farmers hold in the world; indeed, if all the farmers in the United States stopped working, our problem would be far more severe than just the government falling, but almost everyone would simply starve. It is nice to keep this in mind as no matter how much our civilization develops and our technologies improve, we still rely on human farmers for our basic food needs. I enjoyed reading your creative perspective on this topic and I hope to read more from you in the future.
ReplyDeleteHi Raymond! The title "Power of the farmers." certainly caught my attention, with the theme being language and power. I had to stop and think how farmers could possibly relate to the topic. I never really thought the idea of "With great power comes great responsibility" is something that can apply to farmers but you certainly have a point. I liked how you raised a point about the future of the nation. How might advances in technology impact the agriculture industry?
ReplyDeleteLet's keep praying that farmers do not decide to destroy the nation! Even if they do, I hope they mark down the prices of eggs because $13.99 for a dozen is an abusrd price.
Hi Raymond! I thought your line of thinking was very creative, especially towards the end! When I first saw your post, I felt intrigued because I couldn't think of how farmers would even be relevant! Now that you point it out, to some extent, farmers do have a lot of power and can influence our nation's politics if they all decided to strike. It seems a bit obvious after reading your blog, since farmers produce all of our food, but it never crossed my mind before. However, I don't think we can replace farmers with robots, since it would take too much money to make that many robots.
