Raymond Holmes-King week 12: Power of Money
I am going to talk about a classic power in the world. Money. Money is power, no matter how you look at it. You might say that money is just a piece of paper, but it is so much more.
With money, you can basically do anything you want. You can go anywhere you want, do anything you want, with less consequences. With money, you can buy food, water and shelter. You can also buy things for entertainment.
Money is the center of power, if you can't afford anything, you can't do anything. If you want to do anything big in your life, you will need money.
Money has the power to destroy worlds. You can pay other people to sabotage other people, and if you have enough money, you can do some real damage.
With money you can also donate money to charity and research for cruises for diseases. You can do a lot of good things with money that can change the world, it's just up to you how you will decide how to use the power of money.
We humans give money power, and we also really rely on the power that we give money to be in a thriving community because if money had no value, society as we know it would collapse.
People say money can’t buy happiness, but I fully disagree with that. With money, you can do things you can enjoy. With money you can buy basic necessities like food and water. You can travel the world and try new things with money.
Money is used everywhere around the world, all the countries have their version of money with the same principle, and has the power to change the world for the better, or for the worse. It's up to us humans to decide what we want to do with the power of money.
Hey Raymond! I really enjoyed your blog on the topic of money this week. I definitely agree with you that money plays a large role in all of our lives, defining our socioeconomic status and even predicting our success in some cases. One point of yours that I heavily agree with is opposing the idea that “money can’t buy happiness.” Money, in today’s society, is absolutely essential to a happy life. Without money, living paycheck to paycheck or being homeless would undoubtedly cause one to be very sad and stressed out. Money, no matter how much people may deny it, is essential to a happy and stable life.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the multiple examples you provided in your blog on how exactly money can contribute to the world beneficially or even harm it. Your syntax was interesting, with a bold claim and then subsequent evidence to pack it up. If I was annotating your blog, I would definitely highlight a lot of logos and pathos.
Overall, I appreciated your blog and I look forward to reading more from you!
Hi Raymond! I honestly don't know why I didn't think to write a blog about money sooner, since it's the most obvious topic. In our lives, quite literally everything we do is for money. All our lives, our parents have told us to get good grades and get into a good college to be successful. But what does that success mean? Money. And this notion is entirely correct. Earning a high salary is the ticket to a stable, high-quality life. Being able to finance your needs and wants with room to invest or plan for retirement is the ultimate goal. In a broader scale, I agree with how you point out that money literally controls the world. As you said, money is the center of power, and allows anyone to do anything. International relations all come down to one thing: money. Countries want more land to exploit its resources; they want complex trade relations to boost profits. Overall, money is the biggest influence on today's society.
ReplyDeleteHi Raymond! I do agree with you that money is very important. In the sense that money can buy our life's necessities including a home, cars, and clothes, which could make an individual temporarily happy, but I do believe that money does not buy long-term happiness. People could have all the materialistic items that make them appear rich and items that contribute to their lavish lifestyle, but happiness does not come from that. Happiness stems from their inner feelings where people are content with the individuals they surround themselves with. More money could lead to weaker relationships and a false connection with others. I also agree with you that money can definitely be used for a great cause when used right. Money can be used to help those in need, and many rich people in the world now such as Bill Gates have donated to charities as they realize that they can use their money for the betterment of society.
